We know that you deserve the very best, so we want to thank you for your support of our organization over these last few months, the unbelievable grace and outpouring of love you have extended to our family since Denny’s passing. It should come as no surprise to any of you that Denny’s passion for The Family Wins never wavered even in his final days.

The 5 Attributes of a Winning Family

#1 SELF-AWARENESS

A Winning Family is Self-Aware

To be self-aware, we have to be honest with ourselves. We have to first answer truthfully the question of, “What do we want for our family?” and “What role do we want God to play in our family?” Once we understand what we truly desire and not what society or others tells us we should want, we can then know we are mastering God’s plan and Winning.

#2 EMPATHY

A Winning Family has Empathy

As a family, we must have empathy. Empathy towards our loved ones and those God places in our lives. What they feel matters. The more we can place ourselves in the other person’s shoes, and be empathetic towards their feelings and desires, it will help us to not be so self-involved. Selfishness is often one of the major reasons for failed relationships, especially in our families. The lack of empathy leads down a road that doesn’t have much hope for redemption.

#3 THE WILLINGNESS TO CHANGE

A Winning Family is Willing to Correct Course

There has to be a willingness to change any negative attributes that interfere with winning (i.e distractions that keep us away from God’s word.) One major key to winning is discipline. We should never take for granted the benefits of praying together as a family and committing time at home with our children (and spouse) in order to work on changing negative behaviors into positive ones.

#4 REFLECTION

Reflection is a process of examining scripture  in order to deepen our relationship with the Lord.

It helps us to gain insight into God’s character, provides us with examples for how we should live, and compels us to put our faith into action.  Reflection opens the door for a better understanding of how to take control and act on God’s word, transitioning from leaning on our own understanding, into leaning into His purpose. In finding purpose as a family, we create a relationship with God that is ever growing and full of life. Once in this phase, we are ready for a plan to commune with God. Reflection brings about the ability to operate in a productive channel. A productive channel, in this case, is a place

where God’s power can be harnessed and used to live life victoriously. We are better when we develop a plan to invest more time with God, and it equips us for change within ourselves and within our families. So What Does It Take To WIN; Self-

awareness, empathy, the willingness to change, reflection, and the commitment to a plan. In the end, what it takes for a family to win is a commitment to invest time daily with God and allow His guidance to lead our family.

#5 COMMIT TO A PLAN

A Winning Family Reflects & Sets a Plan

When you have a plan, you know what you need to do each day/week/month to achieve your goals. This creates a sense of routine and helps keep you on track. A lot of people avoid making plans because they don't want to be tied down, but this is a mistake. Having a plan gives you structure and allows you to focus on what's important. If you're not sure where to start, continue reading so that you can leave knowing how to create an effective plan

"If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail."

- ever heard that saying?  Well...it's true

If you don't have a plan, you're more likely to get sidetracked and never achieve your goals. That's why making a plan is the first step to taking control of your life and making positive changes.

Start by brainstorming what you want to accomplish. Do you want to lose weight, save money? What essentially are your goals? For example, we always hear someone say, i want to do the work in order to become a better person. Now, let's be honest, that's a very vague statement. So, the breakdown of what it means to be a better person is where we would start. (Writing out your goals and the breakdown of how to achieve them is essential. In fact, scripture tells us to write down our visions and make them clear unto God. Habakkuk 2:2 )

‍‍When we have awareness and empathy towards the 5 winning attributes then we can begin the process of winning together as a family

This is WINNING!
